Dean is new to living in Tucson, but spent the majority of his childhood in the Scottsdale area so is not new to the wonders of living in Arizona. His most recent USA teaching experience was in the Pacific Northwest, and prior to that in the southern states, but he has also lived a total of 18 years outside of the United States in southern Mexico, Kenya, and, most recently, Thailand, where he completed his graduate studies. He has taught courses in Bible, mathematics, computer science, science, secondary education, IT Director, and 4 years as the only teacher in a first through eighth grade school. Dean enjoys using integrated learning and technology in his classroom to help students gain experience which will help prepare them for real life. His favorite classes are in the area of STEM. His hobbies include woodworking, bike riding, photography, tinkering, problem-solving, and travel.
Dean teaches to bring out each student's strengths and to strengthen their weaknesses so they will be able to shine and make a difference.

Kent Kristensen moved to the Tucson area in autumn of 2015 from Minnesota where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at the University of Minnesota. He enjoys working on behalf of students and has served as a missionary in Bangkok, Thailand at the Adventist Language School, as a private tutor, and at Trinity International School, a Seventh-day Adventist K-12 facility. While pursuing his education in the United States, he has also worked in after school care, and as a 3rd and 4th grade vounteer. As transitional work after moving to Arizona, he worked as a substitute in the Vail School District.
Kent engages in a variety of hobbies and recreational activities including woodworking, photography, rock climbing, traditional archery, backpacking, off-roading, and mountain biking. His favorite in-house activities include music listening, reading, and planning his next outing.

Charla was born in Tucson, Arizona at the Davis Monthan Air Force base. Charla as a child lived in Germany for seven years, as her father was in the military. She grew up playing sports and even went to classes to be a little league umpire. Charla loves working with children and getting to teach them all about Physical Fitness. Charla believes Desert Valley is where God has sent her to nurture and teach the students.
Charla's interest and hobbies include Tai Chi, running, Resistance training, roller skating, volunteering, and an avid bible reader.

Ms. Gottke has been teaching elementary school for 18 years in California, Texas, Indiana, Taiwan, South Korea, and Saipan. Ten of these years included working with ELL students. She graduated from Pacific Union College and recently completed her TESOL certification at California State University, Chico. She loves teaching children and working with them in Pathfinders. She grew up in Seventh-day Adventist schools and has always supported them. She believes in teaching to a high academic standard and helping students achieve their potential. Her goal in teaching is to prepare the students for this world and for Heaven.
