Mrs. Starr Schwinn has returned to DVCS. She first taught grades K-2 in 2006-2011. Then she taught grades 3-8 beginning in August 2017. Now she will be teaching the K-2 room again. Mrs. Schwinn is looking forward to the challenge of new curriculum and working with the younger students. She has taught in a variety of settings, public and private, and has found that teaching for Jesus and Adventist Education is where her heart belongs.
She has been a teacher since 2001. Mrs. Schwinn enjoys reading, watching children grow & learn, and walking with her two small mixed terriers, Daisy & Cider. She has been married to a wonderful man, Konrad, for 16+ years.

Mrs. Lopez came to United States of America last November 2007, when she was hired directly from the Philippines as a Special Education/ math teacher at White Cone High School, Keams Canyon AZ. After four years, Mrs. Lopez moved to Douglas Unified school district and started the functional curriculum at Paul Huber Middle School, Douglas AZ. The desires to serve God in His mission field and educate her children Bill and Jireh in an Adventist Education lead Mrs. Lopez to Saguaro Hills Seventh- Day Adventist School in the year 2015-2017. July of 2017, she started teaching grades 6-8 here in Desert Valley Christian School .

Before coming to USA, Mrs. Lopez was a Math teacher in Sped High School for 10 years. Where she also served as Math Coach, Girl Scout Troop leader, at the same time Values Education teacher. Since her conversion into Adventist faith on May 1998, it was her inner desires to teach in the Adventist educational system where she can work hand in hand with her husband Edgar Lopez who was a Pastor before in the Philippines. Mrs. Lopez considers teaching as a vocation, a calling to serve and mold children into an individual worthy in the sight of men and ready for the service of our Mighty Creator.

Kent Kristensen is a new teacher at Desert Valley Christian School (DVCS), teaching fourth and fifth grades. He moved to the Tucson area in autumn of 2015 from Minnesota where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education at the University of Minnesota. He enjoys working on behalf of students and has served as a missionary in Bangkok, Thailand at the Adventist Language School, as a private tutor, and at Trinity International School, a Seventh-day Adventist K-12 facility. While pursuing his education in the United States, he has also worked in after school care, and as a 3rd and 4th grade vounteer. As transitional work after moving to Arizona, he worked as a substitute in the Vail School District.

Kent engages in a varieity of hobbies and recreational activities including woodworking, photography, rock climbing, traditional archery, backpacking, off-roading, and mountain biking. His favorite in-house activities include music listening, reading, and planning his next outing.
